System requirements for Microsoft 365 Family and Microsoft 365 Personal
Below you can find the system requirements by component for using Microsoft 365 Family and Microsoft 365 personal at the time of writing (5-1-2022).
Processor
If you're using a Windows operating system, you need at least a 1.6GHz or faster dual-core processor.
Memory
When using a 64-bit Windows OS system the minimum memory requirement is 4GB RAM. When using a 32-bit system this requirement is only 2GB of RAM. For MacOS there is also a minimum working memory of 4GB RAM.
Hard drive
When using a Windows operating system you need 4GB of available disk space on your hard drive.
Display
If you are using a Windows operating system you need a screen resolution of at least 1280 x 768 px, higher is always possible. If you are using a 32-bit system you need hardware acceleration if you want to run 4K resolution. For the web apps the same limitations apply.
Graphic card
When you use a Windows operating system you do not specifically need a graphics card. However, if you want to use graphic hardware acceleration, you must have DirectX 9 or higher, which also has WDDM requirements.
Operating system
Windows 11, Windows 10, Windows 8.1, Windows Server 2019 and Windows Server 2016 all support Microsoft 365. You can read here whether Microsoft 365 works on MacOS.
Browser
There are no strict browser requirements. Microsoft Edge, Safari, Chrome and Mozilla FireFox are all compatible with Office 365 and Microsoft 365.
Specific requirements for certain functions
An active internet connection is required for all internet functions and cloud activities. You need an Internet connection for installation and activation.
You need a Microsoft account to activate your license.

Below are the system requirements by component for using Microsoft 365 for Business, Education and Government at the time of writing (5-1-2022). If you are unsure, please check Microsoft's own website carefully.
Processor

Memory
If you are using a 64-bit Windows OS system then the minimum memory requirement is 4GB of RAM. When you are using a 32-bit system this requirement is only 2GB of RAM. For MacOS there is also a minimum working memory of 4GB RAM.
