First things first: Office 2019 is a one-time release and while it was suspected that this could be the last perpetual license for Office, this is not the case. Microsoft has stated that there will likely be at least one more.

A Microsoft Office 2019 license never expires

That's why once you buy an Office 2019 license, it will never expire, just like any version there will come a point when no more updates will be made – for users who don't want or can't use the cloud, and don't need advanced options or working alone, an Office suite such as Office 2019 is a good purchase.
