Remote Desktop Services 2025
What is Remote Desktop Services 2025?
Microsoft Remote Desktop Services (RDS CALs) 2025 is part of Microsoft's licensing model and provides remote access to Windows applications and desktops via a server. RDS, formerly known as Terminal Services, is an essential solution for companies looking to offer their employees the flexibility to work from various locations and devices. With RDS 2025, users can easily connect to desktops and applications via their own devices, with the correct access rights for their specific roles. RDS CALs 2025 ensures greater flexibility and productivity, allowing employees to work in different work environments, regardless of time or location.
How to use Remote Desktop Services 2025 for server licensing?
With Remote Desktop Services 2025, you can remotely access various Microsoft servers and applications. The applications are as follows:
- Windows Server
- Microsoft Exchange
- Server, SQL Server
- SharePoint Server
- Office
To access these servers, it is necessary to first purchase standard User/Device CALs and then add the RDS User/Device CALs. This way, you can fully utilize the RDS features and manage access to your servers. Check out the list of Microsoft products you can combine with RDS to create an optimal working environment for your employees.
Activating RDS 2025
You must activate your RDS CALs 2025 before gaining remote access to the server. After purchasing your RDS CALs from Softtrader, you will also receive an activation guide. The first step is to go to this website: https://activate.microsoft.com/. Then, choose your preferred language and select "Install client access licenses." Next, you need to note down your License Server ID. (Tip: You can find your License Server ID in the Remote Desktop Client. See below.)
Next, you need to change the licensing program to OPEN-License and add your company name, country, language, and region. These can be selected based on your country. For the product type, choose the RDS version you have purchased and the number of CALs you have acquired. In the license program field, you can fill in the product key from the license document you received upon delivery. After that, you will receive an individual identification of the key package. You can then continue the installation in RD License Manager using the license number and authorization number.
RDS CALs are an ideal solution for organizations to grant access to their servers. As long as employees have an internet connection, they can work anywhere and from any device on the corporate network. Read below how you can use RDS and benefit from it in your daily and professional life.
Remote Desktop Services 2025 Applications and Benefits
RDS 2025 offers the features RemoteApp and Remote Desktop. With RemoteApp, applications can run both locally and remotely on the same device, so users don't need to distinguish between apps running locally or remotely. The Remote Desktop feature allows users to remotely connect to another desktop and use it from their own device. This makes it easy to, for example, run Windows applications on Android or iPad devices. RDS 2025 provides companies with the opportunity to save costs, as they do not need to upgrade multiple devices, but simply purchase the RDS CALs and enable their employees to work flexibly.
What is the difference between RDS User CAL 2025 and RDS Device CAL 2025?
RDS CALs 2025 are available in two versions: User CALs and Device CALs. An RDS User CAL provides one user with access to the server through various devices. An RDS Device CAL provides access to the server through a specific device. Choosing between User CALs and Device CALs depends on the number of users or devices in your organization. For example, if you have five users who want access to the server, it would be more cost-effective to purchase five RDS User CALs instead of 20 RDS Device CALs, if there are 20 devices.
Don't forget that you always need standard server CALs first before you can add RDS CALs.
